The investment

Electricity in Bermuda is a cost that only goes one way.

Bermuda pays some of the highest electricity costs in the world, and the usage charge has risen about 4.2% a year for the past 10 years. Our first proposals, in 2008, projected where the rate would be in 2026. It got there.

Taking control

A system is a price you pay once. Grid power is a price you keep paying.

Solar fixes the cost of your power on the day you buy it. Every year the grid rate rises, the gap between what you would have paid and what you do pay gets wider. That is the protection, and it is why the return improves with time rather than fading.

Return and payback
17%a year

Paid back in the 5th year. Warranted for 40.

A typical AES proposal returns about 17% a year on its price, pays for itself in the 5th year, and over the panels' 40-year warranty returns several times what it cost. Your proposal shows the figures for your roof and your bills.

Where the cost was, is, and is heading

The gap widens every year the system runs.

The red line is what grid power costs over time at the 4.2% a year it has averaged for the past decade. The navy line is a solar system: paid for once, producing for 40 years. The gold line is what the system returns, year after year, against its price. It crosses the price in the 5th year and keeps climbing because the grid rate does.

Indexed to the price of the system. A typical AES proposal assumes the current rate rising 4.2% a year and shows a first-year return of about 17%. Your own proposal is built from a year of your bills.

Flexible payment plans available

Two ways to pay for the system.

Design, permitting, supply, installation and all electrical work are included in the price. Either way, nothing beyond the deposit is due until the system is switched on.

Option 1

Cash

  • A 30% deposit on signature.
  • The balance is due when the system is commissioned and running normally.
  • Nothing owed after switch-on.
Option 2

Monthly payment plan

  • A 30% deposit on signature.
  • The balance over up to 5 years at a fixed 7% rate, on a monthly schedule.
  • Payments begin only when the system is commissioned, so the system is producing before the first instalment.
  • Pay off the full balance at any time.

Bespoke engineering

Designed around your roof and your consumption.

We read a year of your bills, measure the roof and design the system that covers your usage, by a Chartered Engineer. Panel count, layout and battery customised to your house and the way you use power.

20,000 panels of experience on slate, SKB, concrete, TPO and metal roofs.

What goes on your roof

One integrated system.

Maxeon panels, Enphase microinverters, the Enphase battery and one app. Each part is made to work with the others, and warranted longer than anything else on the island.

Your energy at your fingertips

Day. The roof runs the house and fills the battery.

This is Live Status in the Enphase App: what the panels are producing, what the house is using and where the rest is going, right now. In the day the surplus charges the battery, and anything beyond that exports.

Afternoon

Production falls. The battery starts to take over.

As the sun drops the panels cover less of the load, and the battery fills the gap without anything being switched.

Night

The battery powers the house.

Lights, air conditioning and the kitchen run on the power the roof made at noon. Nothing is bought from the grid.

Grid down

The grid drops. The house stays on.

The chip flips to Off Grid; the battery and the panels carry the house. No switch to throw, no generator to start.

Panel by panel

Every panel, working on its own.

Each Maxeon panel has its own Enphase microinverter, so you see every panel's production in the app, shade on one never slows the rest, and a fault is a message on your phone rather than a roof that stops. What happens next

From signature to switch-on.

We handle the design, the planning application, the inspections, the Certificate of Use and Occupancy and the utility paperwork. You sign, and open the app.

  1. Site visit and proposalWe look at the roof, read a year of bills and design the system. The proposal shows your production, return and price.
  2. SignatureCash, or the monthly payment plan.
  3. Design and permittingDrawings and the planning application, included in the price. 4 to 6 weeks.
  4. Equipment orderOrdered while planning runs, so we start the day the permit issues.
